“It’s just a completely different world,” said Mississippi-based political strategist Henry Barbour, noting that Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum were both bolstered in their 2012 bids by allied super PACs. Henry Barbour, a fundraiser and lobbyist in Mississippi, said the majority of "money folks are trying to keep their powder dry for as long as possible." Barbour said he would support Texas Gov. Rick Perry should he decide to seek the GOP presidential nomination a second time, but he called Bush's interest in the race a sign that "a strong field of Republicans" is building ahead of 2016. At the RNC, he serves on the Executive Committee and Debate Committee and co-authored the RNC’s Growth and Opportunity Report following the 2012 election cycle. He was an RNC staffer in the 1992 and 1994 election cycles, including working on the 1992 Republican National Convention.
Barbour’s political activities include serving as a member of the Mississippi Republican Party Executive Committee, a member of the RGA Finance Committee, and a member of the Yazoo County Republican Party Executive Committee. In 2014, Henry ran a $3 million Super PAC in support of U.S. Senator Thad Cochran’s successful re-election. He is a close (unpaid) political advisor to Texas Governor Rick Perry and also served as one of Governor Haley Barbour’s closest political advisors and managed his campaign for governor in 2003. He has run successful Congressional campaigns and worked on several Presidential campaigns, starting with the 1988 Bush campaign. He served as Deputy White House Liaison at the Department of Energy in the Bush-Quayle Administration.

In addition, Henry is a regular sparring partner for local high school tennis players and formerly coached for the Yazoo Girls Soccer and Softball programs.
